Duke of Edinburgh - Hadrians Wall
On the 24th April 2009 Mr Iddon and Miss Robinson took a Duke of Edinburgh group to Hadrian's Wall for a practice expedition. The group split into a girls group and a boys group and walked solo, covering fifteen miles in the two days. Mr Iddon and Miss Robinson met up with the groups at 'check in' points along the way. The walk follows the wall and is very up and down as you can see in the picture! This was the lunch stop on Saturday. This tree is famous as it is where Kevin Costner shot some of the opening scenes in the film 'Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves'. The weather was blue skies and sunshine until a thunder and lightening storm moved in on Saturday afternoon and caught the groups, giving them a thorough drenching. As ever excellent planning by Mr Iddon saw us all finish the walk at a tea shop on Sunday and after well earned refreshment we made our way home to sunny Blackpool.
